Interesting... I just chatted with a dealer who's worked at his Kia dealership for 4 years and said the configurations - any GT or GT1 w/AWD and Drive Wise are configured with 18's standard. Nothing with AWD and Drive Wise GT or GT1's coming in with 19s. None of them. And I have seen the window sticker showing that 18's are under the "Additional Features" area. So they are being configured this way from Kia Corporate.
The disappointing part is he claims once the packages are set, they are kinda set - Kia doesn't readily change them. So I emailed the VP of Product Planning Kia USA in Irvine and suggested the 2019's do otherwise... Hmmm...

This is something BMW would do with some basic 3-series 320i's etc... Granted, BMW has a slug of 3-series to play with and configure to about any direction they choose. With Kia, they have two engine types and thus two starting configuration models more-or-less, and Kia seems bent on wanting to target the highest end of BMW's 3 or 4-seires and maybe M's with this car. The US living south of the mason-dixon line could take the GT AWD w/Drive Wise 19's and summer's in a heartbeat.
So to me it's a slight cost savings. I'm hoping the 2019's late fall/early winter come in with more choice. I'm not purchasing until then anyway. This will be the most expensive car I have ever purchased (if the Mrs will even agree to it!). So we'll see what Kia does. I find the 2019's starting to provide many questions to the enthusiast/consumer market.
? Will Kia make ANY changes?
? If so, will it be with configuration types only? Or will Kia also change pricing a bit?
? Will the US versions get Kia's infamous more for less attitude, dropping in the 360 camera and other missing features for no price increase?
? Will Kia provide more al-a-carte ordering options?
Should be interesting to see what they do...
