Is there such a thing for the 3.3 turbo?

My previous car (2004 Mazda 3) had a cartridge filter, and upon my second oil change, I changed it to a spin on filter as there readily existed parts to make the swap.

This conversion allowed the use of much better, more cost effective, and more widely available oil filters.

Does such a thing exist for the Stinger?

This will be a great solution, however this will require some major fabrication work as most, if not all Kia's now use a cartridge style oil filter.

I hear what you are saying - but I don't like it.

Is there no Kia/Hyundai 3.3 engine that uses a spin on filter?

It’ll be an after market solution, my next oil change I’ll look at the mounting. The current setup is pretty long so I’m skeptical but hey, anything is possible for the right price

Why are the traditional spin on filters better?

A Wix filter from Rock Auto costs $5. Most traditional filters run $8-20.

Well, as a Canadian.... my options are quite a bit more limited than yours.

All my local stores (Walmart, Canadian tire) do not even stock the oil filter, and if they do, they are out of stock ever time I check.

I'm still using my first 4 oil changes free from the dealer, but soon enough, I'll be doing my own oil changes.

Cost isn’t everything I prefer the metal of a spin on filter to the plastic housing.

meh.
Cartridge filter and bowl is same as an F-16 filter assembly, so it is nothing new to me... ;)

But getting the bowl back on is wee bit more difficult than a simple spin-on filter. I find I have to smack the filter to seat it enough to get the bowl on. At least I don't have to safety-wire it on a Stinger. :D

Anyone in Canada have a source for where to buy the filter from?

I've seen the OEM filters for the 3.3 on both EB and Amaz, individually and in bulk. A big reason manufacturers are going away from the spin-on is the metal 'convenience' casing is a waste of materials for a disposable filter. Multiply that by a few million filters per year and it adds up.

Both my cars now have the drop-in cartridge filters - it doesn't take a lot of getting used to to do a clean change. I like them now.
