Rear hatch no longer opens or closes

My rear hatch no longer opens or closes. It tries to open but cant so i have to crawl in through the back seat to manually pop it. Then if i press the button to close it, it won't close all the way and latch so I get warnings and beeps. So I have to crawl in again and pop it manually then get out and shut it manually. Anyone else have rear hatch issues? Im taking it to the dealer today to get it fixed. Im guessing its a bad latch mechanism.

Is this only when you try to use the key fob to open it or also when you hit the button on the outside just above the license plate?

Both. The hatch latches shut but the secondary mechanism wont latch so it cant shut completely. Also, it wont release to allow it to open either.
KIA said they had to order a replacement secondary latch. And, they said this is the first issue they've seen with the hatchback.
