Hi all,
I don't seem to have the trunk rattle, and I already took care of the sunroof creak/squeak situation weeks ago (which went nuts after rinsing my car with deionized water)!
But what I do have is a sort of rattle right near my head, to the left, at speeds around 40-50 MPH. My best guess is that it's the trim piece that runs the length of the roof of the car, I guess over the rain gutter or whatever there?
I can tap it with my fingers in that area, and it has a very flat, dead "plat plat plat" sound in some spots, like it's very flexible and is hitting the metal underneath.
My theory is that at speed, airflow is causing it to vibrate, and it's missing some padding or too close to the roof or whatever...and it's basically flapping and creating a rattle inside.
Anybody else experience this? Is there an easy fix? I realize you can take a new car to the dealer and have rattles taken care of, but I'd like to know if I'm on the right track, if there's an easy fix for this, etc.
Like I said, about my sunroof, I knew exactly what was causing it and that putting a little tube lube around the seal would fix it. --And I've seen someone say the dealer told them they'd need to remove their headliner and sunroof and they'd be without the car for weeks. No thanks. That's a 1 minute fix.
Thoughts?
