Plastic Protective Sheets Below Passenger Doors

I noticed (3) small clear plastic sheets adhered to the body next to the passenger doors. They appear to be protective sheets. Does anybody know what these are for? Are they permanent? Did anybody see these and remove them?

They're factory paint protection film.
