- 2022 Stinger GT1
Greetings everyone. I just bought a 2022 Stinger GT1 yesterday, and look forward to learning from everyone's experiences, perspectives, and ideas on the car.
I'm an old-school (and just plain old)(ulgly too) hard-core gearhead, 63, and have owned well over 100 cars in my life. The Stinger is the first automatic transmission car I've bought for myself (not including the cars we've bought for my wife). I bought it ti replace a Subaru WRX which is a fantastic car and amazing fun to drive, truly one of the great cars of the world and a terrific bargain. But, with creeping arthritis, the WRX's ride was just too harsh and stiff for longer rides, anything more than about 2 or 3 hours. I also wanted another automatic in the household so my wife could drive it if needed. So, after 48 years of driving impossibly impractical cars, it was finally time for something a bit more 'adult'.
But I'm hoping the Stinger will still be fun to drive as well as have a dose of real-world practicality. From the 100 mile drive home last night, I think it has just that balance - the soul of an enthusiast's car, but with enough creature comforts to not beat you up.
