New BMW looks strangely familiar or is it just me?

I prefer the BMWs looks, but the similarities seen side by side are pretty amazing.

Yup Peter Schreyer designed the Stinger.
For what it's worth, Schreyer was Audi's lead interior designer. But yeah, he designed the exterior and interior of the Stinger.

Looks very good. But, $200k vs. $50k? I know which one I would go with

The difference is the Stinger is a real car with "freude am fahren" (the joy of driving) while the BMW M8 is (only) a concept car where the emphasis might be on "freude durch kraft" (joy in horsepower, also loosely translated as how big is your wallet...)

I've driven several recent BMWs, and outside of the 2 series, they've all gone pretty soft. Their steering is really not well done and artificial. Personally I find the Stinger far more engaging (in Sport mode).

The designs are pretty close when you put them side by side.

The only BMW that I would consider, if I had the money, would be the V10 E60 or the newest M5 which all the journalists are saying "back to how it was" when BMW was a driver's car.

Or a mint condition E39 M5. But good luck finding one.

Never driven one. BMW purists seem to have shrugged it off as too much of a GT. But I like GTs and love the shape of the 8 series.

That new BMW 8 front grill looks between a Lexus with the lower part and BMW upper part. Prefer my Stinger and for a whole lot less I couldn't be happier.
