Today I had a chance to attend the Kia Stinger Experience in Houston. Overall the event was really fun and the course was setup really well so you can fully test the Stinger's potential. The experience lasted for about 1.5 hours and includes a quick orientation, Q&A time with a product specialist, and three laps on their track, once in a competitor's car, once in the Stinger and finally one hot lap with an instructor. #stingerexperience #kiastingerexperience

The Pros - What I enjoyed the most
  • Registration was very quick.
  • Great venue with free snacks, soda, coffee and water for all attendees.
  • Very nice lounge area where you can wait for your turn.
  • Little wait time as everyone has their assigned time slot.
  • Track setup was large enough were you can fully test acceleration and hard braking.
  • The presenter did a great job getting everyone excited about the event.
  • Q&A was great as you can ask any question about the Stinger.
  • The best part was getting the hot lap with a professional driver. The instructor was awesome.
  • Nice little swag gift when the event was over.

The Cons - What I didn't like
  • Event distance, we had to drive over 2 hours from San Antonio to attend the event in Houston. Kia should host this event in more cities.
  • The track time was too short. It would be nice if they gave us more track time or more choices on what we can do.
  • It's random which competitor's car you get to test drive. My friend drove the Audi A5 while I got to drive the Porsche Panamera. They should let everyone choose which cars they want to drive or let people drive all three cars to fully experience the difference.

Few pictures of the event

Looks like a lot of fun. I had originally reserved for the Chicago event last weekend but something came up last minute and I couldn't attend.

I agree with your review too, thought the event was very nice but way too short and I didn't get a chance to drive the Panamera either. The free gifts were great though.

I was in Chi last weekend for the event. Had a 9am slot on Friday morning. And my drive was 3 hours each way. LOL

What did you think of the event? Did you test the knowledge of the product specialist?[grinking]

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....

So, I really enjoyed it. I would also agree with the other guys. The seat time disappeared very quickly. That said, it could have been 2 hours racing the car and I would feel the same way. LOL

It's nice to get to REALLY drive it. Lot cars and test drives consist of driving the car the same way some people drive the Corolla and the car is built for so much more. Getting the chance to toss it around. Getting the chance to push it farther than a simple test drive allows.

The "product specialists" are really just hired models that had to cram study like they're taking a semester final. I asked them a couple of techie questions and they didn't know the answers . The guys driving are the important ones. Kia hired REAL drivers. The guys driving normally race Cady's, GM's, Ford's, Volvo's, etc... They are the ones that it really matters to. So, I asked them. Would YOU buy a Stinger. The consensus was unanimously YES! They talked about how, after their first few days driving the car, they sat around together rehashing how strong the car really is. The chassis. The suspension. The build quality.

Ultimately, the event is focused on selling the sizzle for potential customers. They did that well in my opinion. For me, it just solidified what I already knew. I will own a Stinger. LOL
