I have a 2019 GT1 Snow White Pearl (SWP). Couple of weeks ago the plastic key cover broke off and fell to the ground. All I did was open the door and it fell off. I have owned the car since new and have never take it off.
That said, the part hit the concrete and marked it up...but I could polish it it out...but the inside "hook" at the top inside of piece broke...so it needed to be replaced.
Dealer replaced for free and painted it. It comes non painted. He only painted the one part trying to match using VIN and also computer reading current OEM paint.
Below are photos below of both the drivers door where it fell off and rear door on same side....all OEM paint except for that little Cap over the key hole on drivers door.
Your thoughts....In bright sun light looks great. In dim light is looks grey. Kia dealer tried painting it twice and said without blending into handle and door it will never be perfect. Well I didn't want to disturb the OEM paint so i left it.
I did talk to other body shops...they all said without blending it will never match 100 percent....I don't think the OEM caps on other doors match either.
SWP is three stage paint that changes colors in movement and lighting...so hard to match.
Some questions to group
*** Note the CAP that was painted is the drivers door so it has the black button to open door in pictures....rear door which is OEM paint does not have black button.
Pictures taken with IPhone 12 Pro Max. The darker pictures on in garage with dim light. One is with Garage door open and sun coming in. One is outside in direct sun.
Your thought on paint job looking at pics?
Would you leave it?
Does anyone else have a SWP and see same issue of the cap not matching on doors in different lighting?
Has anyone wrapped door handles in black on SWP and have pictures?
Thanks in advance.
