Well somehow even after watching multiple videos and reading instructions I fucked it up. Anyone have any ideas? I'm not even sure if they have paint out for repainting. I'm not sure how I even messed it up this bad. I'm pretty devistated. I think I will have to wait until Monday to call some shops and see what to do...

For now I've gone and put the OEM Kia badge back on with some double sided 3m to protect it/cover it. But I don't want to cause more damage though... 20190518_103246.jpg

Really sorry man, you're not alone...I think I've counted +10 members on this forum that went through the same thing. One option is you can put the badge back on and tell your dealer you have paint pealing issues and hope they'll cover it or to pay out of pocket to get it repainted.

Didn't know looked like quite a few people had kept the heat gun on the badge for 10 to 20 seconds. Needless to say feel like a complete idiot.

If I mention to the dealer that I was attempting to replace the badge that would void any chances of it getting fixed?

A shop is going to tell you that they will have to strip the hole bumper to make sure it matches the car. I have a very small rock chip on my bumper and that's what they told me.

Ouch that's real bad. It does look like you overheated and melted the paint in some spots.

Oh man that's a real shame. I would just leave it as is for a few more years, you'll probably get tons of rock chips and will need a respray anyways.

That happened to my back, I had back and front totally repainted to fill holes and go badgeless.

If you called around I believe you could find a local shop that would do for $350.00, big shops would charge twice that. Or go to a local mechanic that's been around forever, they will have contacts of I know individuals who are good and do body work on the side, that's how I met my guy some time ago. You just need to verify the will use Kia paint codes to match the paint.

Wow that looks really nice. Gives a mysterious feel to the look of it. Really like it. Yeah going to call around see what some shops think hopefully it's around what you said it would cost. If it's too much I'll wait until it needs to be resprayed.

Seriously, talk to a local mechanic or two...drive and talk in person if you can. You will find someone who will do it.

That's a considerable chunk of paint coming off with the badge. I have debadged many cars over the years and I have not seen it as bad as some of the pictures I'm seeing for this car on this forum. For the most part, I use floss/fishing line with light use of heat gun here and there. It's coming off like plastidip.
