Thought everyone might find this interesting to see how the Kia logo has evolved over the years.

According to this 2015 article, Kia has a different badge for international markets, although I don't see it on their global website (at least not prominently displayed). It also suggests the K badge (without any other text) is an unofficial aftermarket derivative.
