- 2018 Kia Stinger GT2
https://www.kbb.com/car-news/kia-stinger-vs-lexus-is-comparison/2100007836/
Similarities
Both have a base turbocharged 4-cylinder and an optional V6; comparable starting prices; respectable resale values.
Kia Stinger Advantages
Hatchback design gives it much more flexibility and useful storage space; longer warranty; turbo V6 makes more power than either Lexus V6; sharper looks; lower starting price.
Lexus IS Advantages
Excellent reputation for reliability; top model is about $10,000 less than a fully loaded Stinger V6; five-star safety rating.
Final Recommendation
As much as we like and respect the 2019 Lexus IS, and certainly have no problem recommending it, the 2019 Kia Stinger is much more interesting, practical, and fun to drive. If you like the comfort and luxury of Lexus, the IS models are fantastic, with the base turbocharged 4-cylinder making perfectly ample power and the two V6s adding even more oomph. But from the practicality of its hatchback design to the sound of its engine to the excellent combination of chassis and steering feel, the 2019 Kia Stinger is the winner here. Just beware that at the upper levels, the price reaches into the $50,000 range, which some may have a hard time paying for a Kia.
