I think you are confusing the collision avoidance with the start/stop feature that turns off your engine at a stop, then turns it back on when you release the brakes. The reason you can?t disable it is due to EPA testing.

Wasn?t there around 500 Stingers sold at the end of 2017?

They are designed to protect against rock chips, but I don?t see much good protection for the Stinger.
