Yup, a bone stock LS1 Z28 was a solid high 13 second car. Car and Driver tested a '99 model ("Camaro vs. Mustang Again" Feb. 99) and the Z ran a 13.8@104 mph vs. the Stang's 14.2@98 mph.

Challenger GT has a 303 hp V6, a high 14 sec car and not a competitor for the Stinger GT. Even the 375 hp R/T isn't a match for the Stinger GT unless it's modded. Now the Scat Pack, SRT-8, etc. with the 485 hp engine, that's a different story ....

Not so much a factory freak than the Stinger GT begins making max torque at 1,300 rpm and that Camaro SS's and other high power RWD cars usually can't get the power down.

Go apples to apples and mod the Stinger GT, it will have no problem taking the SS from a roll!

Also, I sat in a Stinger with the sunroof and it was too close for comfort as it regards headroom. So for me, the base model GT was the way to go.(y)

Exactly, I think the GT looks much sleeker, sportier. And for some reason, MT turns a 13.6 sec@104.8 mph with the AWD GT while C&D reports 13.2 sec@108 mph with the same car. Four tenths and 3+ mph is a substantial difference. Didn't use launch control? 87 octane fuel?
