I had a used '69 Nova SS with it's OEM fake hood vents, so yeah, inexpensive cars had non functional one's too. I didn't care my Chevy had them then, and I don't really care my KIA has them now. Lol

Generally, 2nd gear launches are only quicker if the car is losing massive amounts of traction in first gear (like a Hellcat). That is not the case with our cars, so we'd be losing tons of torque multiplication with 2nd gear launches.
