How many people warm up their Stinger before driving?

How many people get in their car early in the morning and drive right away? I'll admit I have a habit of letting it warm up for a couple of minutes before driving.

I always wait until the tacho drops to around 1000 rpm, but that's it. Never gets that cold here

I normally let it idle for a few minutes while I start my music list.

Just long enough to back out of the driveway. Then low and slow until coolant reaches normal, then another couple of minutes until everything else reaches normal operating temperature. I try to avoid pulling out of a motel parking lot and running up a steep entrance ramp onto a 75 mph interstate on a cold engine and drivetrain. Not good.....

I tend to have a heavy foot which is not so great on cold engines, so I let it come up to temperature before I drive off.

Depends on ambient temperature. Warming the car up to operating temperature is a lot more than the engine coolant, it's also the transmission, engine oil, differential, transfer case, wheel bearings and stub shaft CV joints. Driving gently warms the car up more quickly and completely and doesn't waste fuel idling.

I?ll wait maybe 40-60 seconds on the driveway before driving off.

Where I am, it?s all 30mph or 40mph for the first 6 miles until I cross the bridge and get off the Island to a big road, so I don?t have much choice other than a good warm up / cool down routine each time.

Only let it run long enough for me to get situated in my seat and seat belt on. Just around 30 seconds. By that time the rpms come down

I should add, that this is more about getting the fluid in the transmission moving and slightly warmed than the fluids in the engine.

I have the $495 Remote Start option, so I might as well get my money's worth. I don't like how the car turns off before I get in, but I can live with it. Like others here, I like to wait until the tach drops its idle below 1000 before I take off slow and go easy until it reaches optimal operating temps.

FYI for all the stinger owners out there. You should always let a turbo car warm up because the oil in your engine is cold an thick, so your engine has to pump it through a oil feed line to the turbo and if you have a heavy foot the oil has a hard time getting their. A good analogy would be try sucking a cold milkshake through a straw then try sucking it when its warm big difference. You want to keep the bearings lubricated in the turbo at all times or BOOM there goes your turbo fins through your motor. If you live in a cold climate you definitely have to let your car warm up. It won't happen right away it will over a period of time but here in Phoenix area we don't have to worry about that to much. In the winter here I still let my car warm up, in the summer you really don't have too. Just want to let people know who never own a turbo car before.
