Just got word back from RaceChip USA today that they plan on releasing a tune for the Kia Stinger. Things are looking good for more after-market support.

Hopefully something soon as more and more people are taking delivery.

Hello SeoulStinger, we are currently working on it. We intend to offer the best product possible. That's more important to us than being the first one. However, we are only talking about weeks, not months.

Hopefully its all done via ODB2.
Hello StingerMike, in theory we could do so. We have a dyno and several of our engineers did obd tuning for many years. However, we are specialized in what we call auxiliary control units, because we see more advantages in this kind of technology if done professional.

We do not use the OBD2 port. So, we do not remap of flash the software on the ECU. Our product is an add-on ECU that is placed in the wiring loom between the engine controls and sensors. In other words, it works like a piggyback.
Though, our tuning modules are more like mini-computers than ordinary piggybacks. Our new product range was launched at the end of 2017 and represents the latest technology. A RaceChip GTS is made of more than 350 hardware components. One of these components is an ARM Cortex processor capable of gathering and optimizing data from the engine sensors via up to seven analogue and digital channels in parallel. Via a digital user interface, drivers can choose from seven specially calibrated fine tuning mappings.
I case you got the app feature and are not satisfied with your tuning mapping, our customer service is able to further adapt the settings to the performance characteristics of your engine. The new parameters will then simply be transferred from the app to your RaceChip.
The optional smartphone app offers three tuning stages to match different driving situations: Efficiency for saving fuel in urban traffic, Sport for improved mid-range flexibility on open roads, and Race for maximum performance on the Autobahn or a drag race. The app can also deactivate the RaceChip completely, returning the car to stock tune ? something worth doing from time to time as a way of re-discovering the difference between from-the-factory performance and RaceChip upgraded performance.
Following comparison of our development times shows the importance of the optimization software:
Design and construction: 250 hours
Hardware engineering: 696 hours
Software engineering: 3,700 hours
Other features are (depending on the product) a warm-up timer to protect the engine, a 5-year warranty and free re-programming of the RaceChip if you change cars. Furthermore, the product offers advantages such as plug&play installation, easy removal and preservation of all engine protections mechanisms.
Our suppliers also serve the German automotive industry and our products are Made in Germany.

Sounds promising. Will you offer support for cars that are modded, Ex. full bolt ons?

In general, we develop our products for cars in factory setting without any modification. If you modify your car, we can?t guarantee our advertised statements, because we don?t know the modifications. You must distinguish between a) ecu remapping/flashing and b) other modifications.

a) If you change the software on the ECU (via remapping/flashing) we can?t guarantee proper functioning. If the remapper did a bad job (remove necessary protection mechanisms and implementing dangerous functions) it could blow up your engine in the worst case. Anyway, it usually does not make much sense to use both methods. The power reserve of an engine is limited. Either you use our product to unleash this power reserve or ECU remapping/flashing.

b) If you conduct other modifications such as better air filters, cold air intake, intercooler, downpipe, ? it usually works. Still we can?t guarantee this in general. If you installed other performance parts and are not satisfied with the functioning of the RaceChip anymore, you can contact our customer service to get the software adapted (you need the app versions so you can download the updated software. The app version is $50 on top, the customer service is free of charge). If you conduct massive changes (e.g. bigger turbocharger) it is better to dirictly adapt the software in the ECU.

Our throttle tuning XLR can be used in combination with any modification (incl. remapping/flashing).

5.2s? That's slow compared to many tests which have 0-60mph as 4.7 - which happens to be what the chip portends to provide.

Any love for the 2.0L Turbo?
We are starting with the 3.3L version. Later we will decide whether we offer products for the 2.0L version (and when).

I would love to see the RaceChip numbers compared to the claimed 4.9 stock 0-62 mph (or even faster 4.7 at 0-60 you are referring to). Maybe someone around here will make a similar video under better conditions. I'll ask my colleagues why they weren't faster (maybe bad winter tires).

Nearly every review I've seen/read has clocked 0-60 as fast or faster than Kia's quoted time of 4.7s. Road and Track even clocked it at 4.4s. 5.2s is really slow comparatively, I'd see what they were doing.

Well, part of it is that their rating was to 62 miles per hour, not 60.

2 MPH is not going to affect the time that much. If we take the Kia quoted time of 4.7s, a 1:1 comparison of 60 to 62MPH gives you only another .15s to hit 62MPH at 4.85s. But since we've seen the Kia perform better in the quarter mile than others compared to how it performs 0-60, I'd venture to say it's closer to the 4.8s mark for 62MPH.

This isn't even going into the fact that most reviews are clocking 0-60 under Kia's 4.7 time.
