I'd like to do the first one a bit early. Maybe around 3k.

Depends on what factory oil they decide to go with. I know the my Mazda dealership uses Quaker State... no bueno. However, it's my daily and it's a full synthetic so I'm a bit more leniant with it. If it's Amsoil, Mobil, or Valvoline, I'll stick with it.

I would if I could but I live in a condo. Would doing it yourself void the warranty or do you just have to keep the oil and filter receipts to prove you did the oil change???
Doing it yourself isn't going to void your warranty unless you some how caused the damage yourself. I've been doing my own oil changes for on the last two cars that I've owned and never had any issues with warranty work.

I would say around 6k miles is good for the first oil change, that's twice my usual interval for my cars btw, but being a new, low mileage engine, I don't see any harm being caused by leaving the factory oil in there that long. After that I am doing it every 3k miles.

Keep in mind there a lot of variables to take into consideration, type of engine (turbo or NA, ours is turbo of course), driving conditions (traffic or highway), driving manners (if you tend to have a heavy foot) and temperatures in your area. So make your decision based on that.

just did my first oil change at 1000 miles would have done it at 600 but kia sent wrong oil filter, not hard. You have to remove the back engine cover, but I removed both so I could get to the oil filter better.

Changing any less that 3-4K is almost wasteful (IMHO). Synthetic oils just don?t break down like ?old school? oil did. Also, most higher performance engine blocks are made of aluminum-alloy which is typically much stronger and wears better than the older iron engine blocks.

Just my 2??s.

It's not the oil at 600 miles, it's removal of wear particles, especially those fine particles that aren't trapped in the filter. The oil and additives are good for much longer. I guess I missed the 600 mile oil change in the manual. I go check that again.

Chances... for what? The only people I know who change their oil after 4-500 miles are NASCAR drivers! Lol.

But hey, kidding aside... it certainly shows you love and care for you car and will probably take better care of it than most of the rest of us.

And changing it this early certainly isn?t going to hurt at all.

I dump the OEM oil/filter at 1k miles mainly to remove the break in contaminates/particles that the filter doesn't catch. Also not knowing if the OEM fill is dino, blend or full synthetic I'll have peace of mind of going synthetic.

The Stinger manual says ILSAC GF-4 or above. Synthetic oils like Mobil1 are all GF-5. That's what I use in my 191,000 mile G8 GT and that's what I'll use in the Stinger.

Where did you see in the manual the 600 mile should be the fist oil change. I have looked in the user manual and can?t find it.

Thanks
