HID vs LED Headlight upgrades for base Stinger

Which system do you guys think is better for base Stinger owners looking to upgrade their headlights?

From my research LED seems to be the better option out of the two simply because it's brighter and last longer.

Get HID's. Much easier to install and you will not suffer from uneven light dispersion.

One of the main issues with aftermarket LED kits is that they require/come with a heat dispersion system, usually in the form of a fan and a heat sink, sometimes only a heat sink. The addition of those components is critical for the LED kit, but they make the installation in the sealed Stinger headlights a bit of a nightmare, as you will need to either open holes on the headlight casing or just leave the back cover off permanently, so that air can flow and cool the heat sink via the fan.

The HID kit is a much easier install as it does not require a heat sink and a fan to function properly, but you will need to drill a small opening on the plastic cover so that the wires for the bulb can pass through and connect to the ballast. You can seal the hole with silicone after install to prevent humidity and dirt to accumulate inside the headlight bezel.

I honestly wish I had saw this post before purchasing the LED kit. robz32 is absolutely right about the install of LED's being a nightmare. I did leave the cover off, but I eventually took the LEDs out because of the issue of light dispersion. Also its so difficult to actually get the bulb in a proper angle. The huge fan is ridiculous. Anyway, best to go with HID since the bulb itself doesn't have a huge fan on the back end. My HID's came Saturday but I wasn't home for delivery, so I get them today. I can't wait to install them because the halogen yellowish color annoys me! lol

Morimoto is probably one of the best on the market. Can't go wrong with those.

Agreed on Morimoto. Great quality stuff.

Another good recommendation is the Sportiva Kit. I had those on my previous car (M37 had them for 5 years, they went with the car once I sold it) and they are currently on my wife's G37 and no issues to be reported. The kit is going on 4 years strong.

Diode Dynamics makes really good kits too. Had a set in my Fiesta and it lasted the two years I've had them installed before selling the car.
